What Are Door Keeps?
Door keeps are metal plates which are fixed to the door frame and is where your locks lock into. It’s therefore a vital part of your locking system which ensures that your door remains secure when locked and prevents intruders from gaining access to your property.
What Are Faceplates?
Faceplates are the metal plate which goes along the edge of the locking side of your door. These keep the lock in place and also help to protect the door from damage if an intruder tries to pry open your door, meaning you might get away with just replacing the faceplate rather then the entire door, if in the unfortunate event this should happen to you.
Replacing Door Keeps and Faceplates
When looking to replace your door keep it’s important to know what kind of locking points your door uses and the position of the locking points. If the locking points aren’t inline with your locking points, and the keep isn’t designed for your locking points, you won’t be able to lock the door as the locking points will hit the metal plate.
