Solenoid bolts are a kind of electronic-mechanical locking mechanism, which can give you the best of both worlds. The electronic part means that it can be integrated with your access control system, whereas the mechanical part ensures that the door is fully secure.
Here at Locks and Hardware Direct we have a huge range of solenoid bolts, which can be viewed below. If you have any further queries about any of our products then please get in touch with our team of experts by phoning 0800 304 7355.
How Solenoid Bolts Work
Most solenoid bolts have a fairly simple mechanism which compromises of an electromagnet and a spring. Essentially what happens is that when you want the door to unlock, via the access control system, a current is sent to the electromagnet, the magnetic force generated from this pulls the bolt out of the locked position and enables the door to be opened. Once the door is closed again, the current to the electromagnet stops and the spring loaded bolt is then pushed into the locked position.
