Product Information
This Fuhr 834 - Autotronic multipoint door lock features 1 Deadbolt, 1 Latch & 2 Autolatches.
The Fuhr 834 multipoint door lock is suitable for use as a UPVC door lock or on aluminium, composite or timber doors. Offering a practical hybrid solution for multiple occupancy buildings, or dwellings which require the security and convenience of an automatic lock and the advanced functionality of an electromechanical lock with access control options.
On closing the door, two latching deadbolts simultaneously extend and lock in place providing additional security compared to a standard mechanical door lock as the user doesn’t need to remember to secure the door. Unlocking the door is motorised allowing access control to be added or for integration into existing building management systems.
This multipoint door lock does not feature panic/emergency exit functionality, but an alternative version is available by special order with this feature. The panic version is available for single and double doors providing all of the benefits of the standard 834 lock while allowing unimpeded escape from the inside using the lever or panic push bar at any time and on either the active or inactive door leaf.
Identifying these locks will be possible by examining the operation of the door. Once removed, you'll notice an additional motor between the central gearbox and the bottom autolatch case.
Fuhr 833 multipoint door locks are available in a large range of backsets including 35, 40, 45, 55 and 65mm, some of which may be available by special order. These gearboxes feature a deadbolt which throws 20mm. The gearbox measures 220mm x width + 18mm. The latch and deadbolt are both 31mm high and there is 61mm between the bottom of the latch and the top of the deadbolt. Gearboxes are fixed to faceplates with 3 screws.
Fuhr locks feature a ball bearing and spring pre-fitted. There is a tiny notch on the sliding internal strip that the ball bearing engages (under spring tension) and give a more positive locking feel when handle operated. If you try a lock without this spring and ball bearing fitted, you'll notice the difference. Some replacement gearboxes on the market are sold without the ball bearing and spring, but all of Duffells' replacement Fuhr gearboxes come with these pre-fitted for a direct swap.
Fuhr auto deadlatches are chamfered to fire into keeps when the door is closed. The cases are slightly larger than standard Fuhr hook cases at 150mm high by 50mm wide.
Operation: Automatic Locking
From the outside: the door can be opened using the cylinder key or access control. The door is locked on closing and can be deadlocked using the cylinder key.
From the inside: the door can be unlocked using access control (e.g. intercom/push button), using the lever handle or cylinder key. The door is locked on closing and can be deadlocked using the cylinder key.
To lock the door
1. On closing the door, the latch and locking points are automatically engaged as the triggers on the door connect with the keeps on the frame.
2. Turn the key to deadlock the mechanism.
To unlock the door
1. Turn the key to unlock the mechanism.
2. If you have a lever, push the lever down to retract the locking points. Alternatively, a further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch to open the door.
We stock a range of associated products for Fuhr 834 - Autotronic multipoint door locks, including keeps, spindles, handles and accessories.
