GU Europa Latch 3 Deadbolts Multipoint Door Lock – Fast Locking

From £81.28 inc VAT | In stock

Product Information

This GU Europa Plus multipoint door lock features 3 Deadbolts & 1 Latch.

This GU Fastlocking Europa Plus multipoint lock deadlocks the locking points without the need to turn the key.

The GU range of multipoint door locks is called "SECURY" and the fast locking versions are called "Europa Plus". GU Secury Europa plus locks have a single spindle and a unique locking operation. To lock the door, lift the handle upwards to both engage and lock the locking points. To open the lock, unlock the door by turning the key, push down the handle to disengage the locking points. Return the key to withdraw the latch. You may find that some suppliers refer to GU locks as "Ferco" or "GU Ferco", as that is how they have been historically named. At Duffells, we refer to 92mm PZ locks using the modern name, "GU" while older 70mm PZ locks are called "Ferco".

Identifying a GU lock is straightforward as GU stamp their logo on the faceplate of their locks. However, if you have an old door to repair, the GU lock may be the old, original style, rather than the new version.

GU make their Europa range of door locks with hooks, deadbolts or rollers. Europa Plus locks are only available with a 35mm backset and were never made with the old style configuration.

In 1979, Gretsch-Unitas presented the GU-SECURY multi-point locking system with roller cams for doors at the Deubau Trade Fair in Essen, Germany, and launched it on the market. In the years that followed the versions with pin bolt and SH bolt were developed. In 1996, GU created the first self-locking multi-point locking system for doors with GU-SECURY Automatic.

Fast locking Europa Plus GU gearboxes are available in a 35mm backset only.

New style GU locks can be differentiated from their old style equivalents by the shape at the top of the gearbox. Old style locks have the top corner removed, whereas new versions feature a vertical groove to help with bolts for handles. The two gearboxes are not compatible, so a new style gearbox will not fit on an old style multipoint lock. Fast locking Europa Plus gearboxes were not available in the old style locks and differ slightly to the other operation gearboxes, as the top groove is actually a separate, elongated hole and top groove.

GU multipoint lock gearboxes feature a latch and deadbolt and measure 191mm high (excluding the fixing lugs) by the backset + 16mm wide. The latch is 32mm high, the deadbolt measures 35mm high and there is 54mm from the bottom of the latch to the top of the deadbolt.

GU gearboxes are fixed to their faceplates with 3 screws. The distance from the top to the middle screw is 108mm, while the middle screw to bottom screw is 92mm.

Always allow 2mm when measuring your backset and the faceplate is still attached to the gearbox.

GU refer to their additional locking deadbolts as "MR". The GU-SECURY MR system provides a multi-point lock which is protected from being sawn through or forced back.

Deadbolts are chamfered to help pull the door closer to the frame for compression.
