Product Information

This Elite Key Wind multipoint door lock features 2 Hooks, 1 Deadbolt & 1 Latch.

Elite key wind multipoint door locks are predominantly used on timber and composite doors. These locks are often fitted to doors with long pull handles where there is no need to lift a lever to engage the locking points. They are available in standard and "Heritage" (where the gearbox is higher up the door) configurations. These locks are made in Europe and feature a "Silbear" coating which offers 480 hours salt spray protection.

Identifying an Elite lock starts with the faceplate, which should be stamped with an Elite logo. Keywind locks feature a 20mm radius faceplate and are likely fitted to a door with a pull handle, rather than a traditional lever on plate.

While many Elite locks resemble the old Roto MVD range or "Roto mark 2" locks, key wind locks look a little different. They feature the same latches as the automatic locks but the operation of the lock is different. For further information, please refer to the "Operation" heading.

Elite keywind gearboxes are available as a 35mm or 45mm backset, single spindle lock. There's no need for a double spindle version as that feature is not used on an automatic locking gearbox. The same gearbox is used for both standard and heritage versions of the Elite automatic gearbox.

Elite gearboxes measure 200mm high x backset + 19mm. Be sure to account for 2mm for the faceplate when measuring the backset.

Gearbox deadbolts project 20mm and are 32mm high. The latch is 30mm high and projects 10mm. There is 63mm between the bottom of the latch and the top of the deadbolt.

Centres are positioned at 62mm and 92mm, with the top spindle being 122mm from the bottom of the case. Single spindle locks have a round hole where the second spindle would normally be located. The gearbox is pierced to accept a bolt through fixing 19mm from the top spindle, and the slot above that, for fixings is 42mm above the spindle.

Operation: Key Wind

To lock the door

1. On closing the door, the latch is automatically engaged.

2. Turn the key to throw and engage or "wind" out the locking points.

To unlock the door

1. Turn the key to unlock the door by "unwinding" the locking points.

2. A further quarter turn of the key will retract the latch.

  • 480 hours salt spray tested to EN1675 Grade 5
