Nightlatches, sometimes referred to as Yale locks, and Rim Locks are a type of lock which attaches to the surface of your door, opposed to being fitting within the door itself. Nightlatches require a key to be opened from the outside whereas a lever is used to open from the inside. This also means that there are safety benefits, on top of security, as you will be able to leave your property in an emergency (such as a fire) without the use of a key.
Here at Locks and Hardware Direct we have a huge range of Nightlatches and Rim Locks, which can be viewed below. If you have any further queries about any of our products then please get in touch with our team of experts by phoning 0800 304 7355.
Types of Nightlatches and Rim Locks
There are a number of different types of nightlatches and rim locks which are available to purchase. These include:
Auto Deadlocking
As the name suggests, an auto deadlocking rim lock will engage the deadlock automatically when the door is locked.
Deadlocking
Normal deadlocking night latches require a button to be pushed from the inside side of the lock. This adds extra security as you will then be unable to unlock the door from the outside, even with a key.
Drawback
Drawback latches allow you to put the latch into a withdrawn mode, allowing you to be able to open the door from either side. This is ideal for when you need to be in out of the door for periods of time.
