What Are Floor Spring Closers?
Floor spring closers are a type of door closer that can usually be found installed on heavy doors in both commercial and industrial settings. As the name suggests the floor closer is installed into the floor and has a hydraulic mechanism that ensures that the door is closed after use.
How Floor Spring Closers Work
Floor springs are mounted directly beneath the door and use a mixture of hydraulics and springs to open the door. When the door is opened the hydraulic and spring is expanded, therefore when the door is released it the spring returns to its original shape, recompression the hydraulic and forcing the door to close.
Floor Spring Closers vs Overhead Closers
Due to having to be mounted within the floor, a floor spring closer is usually a more expensive option compared to an overhead closer. However due to this it does mean that the floor spring closer does have less of an aesthetic impact and many people prefer the clean finish they give, especially against an overhead closer which can look quite bulky.
